Synopsis
Bungo Stray Dogs 3 is the third season of the supernatural action anime Bungo Stray Dogs. It aired in 2019 with 12 episodes and was made by the studio Bones. It is based on the manga by Kafka Asagiri and Sango Harukawa. The series is set in the port city of Yokohama, where some people have special powers named after the works of famous writers.
This season starts with a flashback of three episodes. It goes back eight years, before the main story. Osamu Dazai is 15 years old and works for the Port Mafia, a powerful crime group. The Mafia's new boss, Ogai Mori, sends him to look into a rumor. People say a strange god called Arahabaki has come back to a crater area called Suribachi City.
There, Dazai meets Chuuya Nakahara, a boy the same age. Chuuya leads a gang of young people called the Sheep and can control gravity. The two boys dislike each other right away. Still, they are forced to work together to find out what is really going on.
After this, the season returns to the present day. Atsushi Nakajima and the Armed Detective Agency have survived their last fight against the Guild. Now a new danger appears. Fyodor Dostoevsky, the calm leader of a group called the Rats in the House of the Dead, starts to put his own plans in motion.
The season mixes action, mystery and dark comedy. It shows how the tense bond between Dazai and Chuuya began.
