Synopsis
JUJUTSU KAISEN Season 2 is the 2023 second season of the dark fantasy action anime. It has 23 episodes and was made by the studio MAPPA, based on the manga by Gege Akutami. It covers two story arcs, one set in the past and one set in the present.
In this world, negative human feelings create monsters called curses. Jujutsu sorcerers are people who use cursed energy to fight them.
The season opens in 2006, many years before the first season. Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto are students at Tokyo Jujutsu High, and they are already the two strongest young sorcerers in Japan. They are best friends, and they are confident, maybe too confident.
They are given an important job. They must protect Riko Amanai, a 14 year old girl who has a special role in the jujutsu world. Two groups want to take her. One is a religious group, and the other is a group of curse users. Gojo and Geto must keep Riko safe for a few days. Riko wants to enjoy her normal life with her school friends while she still can.
They soon learn that a hired killer named Toji is also after her. Toji has no cursed energy at all, but he is very dangerous.
Later, the story returns to the present day, where Yuji Itadori and his friends face a huge crisis in Shibuya on Halloween night. The season shows how the past shaped the people in the present.
