Synopsis
Chainsaw Man is a 2022 action horror anime, and this first season has 12 episodes. It was made by the studio MAPPA and is based on the manga by Tatsuki Fujimoto. It is set in a version of Japan where devils are real and attack people.
Denji is a poor teenage boy with a huge debt that his late father left behind. To pay it, he works for the yakuza as a devil hunter. His only friend is Pochita, a small devil that looks like a dog with a chainsaw on its head. Denji sells parts of his own body to get by. He dreams of simple things, like bread with jam and a normal life.
One day, a job goes very wrong, and Denji is left to die. Pochita makes a deal with him and becomes his heart. Denji comes back to life as a mix of human and devil. Now he can pull a cord on his chest, and chainsaws come out of his head and arms.
A woman named Makima from the government's Public Safety Devil Hunters sees his power. She gives him a choice. He can work for her, or he can be killed as a devil. Denji joins her team and moves to Tokyo. He works with Aki Hayakawa, a serious devil hunter, and Power, a wild and selfish Fiend.
The season follows Denji as he hunts devils and chases the better life he always wanted.
