Synopsis
Devilman Crybaby is a 2018 horror action anime with 10 episodes. It was made by Science SARU for Netflix and directed by Masaaki Yuasa. It is a modern version of the 1970s manga Devilman by Go Nagai. It is set in present day Japan and is made for adult viewers.
Akira Fudo is a shy and gentle high school boy. He cries easily when he sees other people in pain, which is why he is called a crybaby. He lives with the family of his close friend Miki Makimura, a kind girl who is a star on the school track team.
One day, Akira meets his childhood friend Ryo Asuka again. Ryo is a young genius who has been studying overseas. He tells Akira something shocking. Demons are real. Long ago they ruled the Earth, and now they are coming back. They can take over human bodies.
Ryo believes the only way to fight demons is to gain their power. He takes Akira to a wild underground party, where he plans to draw the demons out. There, Akira is merged with a powerful demon named Amon. But Akira's pure heart lets him keep control of his own mind.
Now Akira is a Devilman. He has the strength and body of a demon, but he still has the soul and feelings of a human. The series follows Akira as he fights demons with Ryo, while the world around them starts to fall into fear and chaos.
