Synopsis
Clannad is a 2007 romantic drama anime with 23 episodes. It was made by Kyoto Animation and is based on the visual novel by Key. It is set in a small town in Japan, mostly at a local high school.
Tomoya Okazaki is a third year high school student. He skips classes, arrives late and does not care about school. He does not like his town, and he has a bad relationship with his father, so he tries to stay away from home as much as he can. His only close friend is Youhei Sunohara, another student who causes trouble.
One spring morning, on his way to school, Tomoya meets a girl standing alone at the bottom of the hill. Her name is Nagisa Furukawa. She is shy and often sick, and she has to repeat her final year because she missed a lot of school. She is afraid of going up the hill to school, because all her old friends have graduated.
Tomoya decides to walk with her. Nagisa's dream is to bring back the school's drama club, which has closed. Tomoya offers to help her, and slowly he starts to care about something again.
Along the way, Tomoya meets several other girls at school, each with her own problems and wishes. He helps them one by one. The series follows Tomoya and Nagisa as they grow closer, and as Tomoya begins to find a place where he belongs.
