Synopsis
Clannad: After Story is the 2008 second season of the romantic drama anime. It has 24 episodes and was made by Kyoto Animation, based on the visual novel by Key. It picks up right after the end of the first season.
Tomoya Okazaki is a high school student who used to skip class and did not care about his future. He has a hard relationship with his father, and he spends as little time at home as he can. Through the first season, he met Nagisa Furukawa, a shy and kind girl who wanted to bring back the school's drama club. With her help, Tomoya began to care about things again, and the two of them became a couple.
The season opens with a story about Tomoya's best friend, Youhei Sunohara. Sunohara's younger sister, Mei, comes to visit, and she is worried about how her brother lives. Tomoya helps her try to make Sunohara take his life more seriously.
After this, the story moves forward. Tomoya and Nagisa graduate from high school and have to face the adult world. Tomoya starts working a hard job and learns what it means to support himself. He and Nagisa also think about their future together. At the same time, Tomoya has to face his feelings about his father.
This season is more serious and emotional than the first one. It follows Tomoya and Nagisa as they grow up, build a life together and learn about the meaning of family.
