Synopsis
Your Lie in April is a 2014 music drama anime with 22 episodes. It was made by A-1 Pictures and is based on the manga by Naoshi Arakawa. The story is set in a Japanese town and follows a group of middle school friends.
Kousei Arima was once a famous child pianist. He won many contests and played every note with perfect skill. His mother taught him, and she was very strict. After she died, Kousei stopped playing. Now, when he tries to play, he cannot hear the sound of the piano. His world has lost its color.
Two years later, Kousei is 14 and lives a quiet, grey life. His childhood friend Tsubaki lives next door and worries about him. His other friend, Watari, is the popular captain of the soccer team.
One spring day, Tsubaki sets up a meeting with a girl who wants to go on a date with Watari. Her name is Kaori Miyazono, and she is a violinist. Kaori is loud and full of life, and she plays music in her own free way. She does not follow the rules that Kousei grew up with.
Kaori soon asks Kousei to play the piano for her at a music contest. He does not want to, because he is afraid of the stage. But Kaori will not give up. The show follows Kousei as he slowly finds his way back to music and to his own feelings.
