Synopsis
I Want to Eat Your Pancreas is a 2018 anime drama film made by Studio VOLN and directed by Shinichiro Ushijima. It runs for about 108 minutes and is based on the novel by Yoru Sumino. It is set in a normal town in modern Japan.
The main character is a quiet high school boy who prefers books to people. He has no friends and likes it that way. The film does not tell us his name at first.
One day at the hospital, he finds a notebook that someone has left behind. It is titled "Living with Dying". Inside, he reads that the owner has a serious illness of the pancreas and does not have long to live. The owner turns out to be Sakura Yamauchi, a cheerful and popular girl from his class. Instead of being upset that he knows her secret, Sakura is happy about it. She is glad to have someone she can be honest with. She decides that he will spend time with her while she does the things she wants to do before she dies. They eat at nice places, go on a trip together and talk about life.
