It is based on the light novel series by Rifujin na Magonote. The story is set in a sword and magic world, and it has mature themes and some sexual content, so it is best for adult viewers.

Rudeus Greyrat is a young man who was reborn in this world after a wasted life in modern Japan. He still remembers his past life, and he is trying hard to live this new one without regrets. Over the years, he has become a powerful mage.

This season opens with Eris Boreas Greyrat, Rudeus's childhood friend. Years ago, she left him to train, because she wanted to become strong enough to stand by his side. Now she studies under Gal Farion, the Sword God. She trains with fierce focus, and people start to call her the Mad Dog. Soon, the Water God Reida arrives to train her as well.

Back in the city of Sharia, Rudeus returns to his daily life at the magic university. He lives with his wives, Sylphie and Roxy, and he works hard to support his whole family. His friends Zanoba and Cliff make him a special magic glove to help him in his work.

The season follows Rudeus and Eris on their separate paths as they both grow stronger and face new choices about the future.
