Synopsis
Teasing Master Takagi-san is a 2018 romantic comedy anime, and this first season has 12 episodes. It was made by Shin-Ei Animation and is based on the manga by Soichiro Yamamoto. It is set in a quiet seaside town in Japan, inspired by the island of Shodoshima. It is a light and gentle show for all ages.
Nishikata is a middle school boy who sits next to a girl named Takagi in class. Takagi loves to tease him. She plays small tricks on him, asks him awkward questions and always seems to know what he is thinking. Every time, Nishikata turns red and loses.
Nishikata does not like losing. Each day, he comes up with a new plan to get back at her. He tries to scare her, trick her or make her embarrassed. But Takagi always sees his plan coming and turns it around on him. Sometimes, she says things that leave him confused about how she really feels.
Most episodes are made up of short, simple moments, like walking home from school, doing homework or buying drinks. The joke is always the same battle between the two, but it slowly shows how much they enjoy each other's company.
There are also short scenes with three other girls from their class, Mina, Yukari and Sanae, who spend their days chatting and joking. The show is a sweet story about first love and small everyday moments.
