Synopsis
The Fragrant Flower Blooms With Dignity is a 2025 romantic comedy anime with 13 episodes. It was made by the studio CloverWorks and is based on the manga by Saka Mikami. It is set in a Japanese town where two very different high schools sit right next to each other.
Chidori High School is a public school for boys. It has a bad reputation, and many people think its students are rough and dangerous. Next door is Kikyo Private Academy, an elite school for girls from rich families. The two schools do not get along, and the girls at Kikyo are told to stay away from the Chidori boys.
Rintaro Tsumugi is a second year student at Chidori. He is tall and has a scary face, so people often judge him and keep their distance. In truth, he is gentle and kind, and he helps out at his family's cake shop.
One day, a girl comes into the shop and happily eats a lot of cake. She is Kaoruko Waguri, a student at Kikyo. She does not judge Rintaro by his looks. Instead, she treats him warmly and becomes a regular customer. Rintaro is surprised and moved by how she treats him.
Rintaro and Kaoruko start to spend time together, even though their schools are rivals. Their friends on both sides are not sure what to think at first. The series follows Rintaro and Kaoruko as their friendship slowly grows into something more, and as they try to bring their two worlds closer.
