Synopsis
Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- Season 2 is the 2020 second season of the dark fantasy anime. This first part has 13 episodes and was made by the studio White Fox. It is based on the light novels by Tappei Nagatsuki. It picks up right after the end of the first season.
Subaru Natsuki is a young man from modern Japan who was suddenly pulled into a fantasy world. He has one strange ability that he calls Return by Death. When he dies, time goes back to an earlier point, and he gets another chance. He remembers everything, but nobody else does. He also cannot tell anyone about it.
At the end of the first season, Subaru and his allies won a hard battle. But the victory came at a high price. Rem, the loyal maid who cares deeply for Subaru, was attacked by a powerful enemy. She is now in a deep sleep, and almost everyone has forgotten that she ever existed. Only Subaru still remembers her.
Subaru and Emilia, the half-elf girl he wants to help become queen, head back to Roswaal's lands. The people of a nearby village have been taken to a strange place called the Sanctuary. Emilia goes there to face a mysterious trial that is linked to her past.
Subaru soon finds that the Sanctuary holds many secrets, and more danger waits for him and his friends. The season follows Subaru as he uses Return by Death again and again to find a way to save everyone.
