Synopsis
Tokyo Revengers is a 2021 action drama anime about time travel and street gangs, and this first season has 24 episodes. It was made by LIDENFILMS and is based on the manga by Ken Wakui. The story moves between Tokyo in 2017 and Tokyo in 2005.
Takemichi Hanagaki is 26 years old. He lives alone in a small apartment, works a part time job and feels like a failure. One day he sees on the news that Hinata Tachibana, his girlfriend from middle school, has died. She was caught up in a fight involving the Tokyo Manji Gang, a violent criminal group.
The next day, someone pushes Takemichi onto the train tracks. Just before the train hits him, he finds himself back in 2005, twelve years in the past. He is in middle school again, and he is part of a group of weak delinquents.
In the past, Takemichi meets Hinata's younger brother, Naoto, and warns him about the future. When he returns to 2017, he learns that Naoto is now a police officer. Naoto tells him that they can send Takemichi back in time again by shaking hands. Together they make a plan to change the past and save Hinata.
To do that, Takemichi must get close to the Tokyo Manji Gang while it is still young. He soon meets its leaders, Mikey and Draken. The series follows Takemichi as he goes back and forth in time, trying to change the gang's future and protect the people he cares about.
