Violet Evergarden: Eternity and the Auto Memory Doll is a 2019 drama film made by Kyoto Animation. It is a side story to the Violet Evergarden TV series and is based on the light novels by Kana Akatsuki. It is set in a European style world a few years after a long war. It is a quiet and emotional film for older children and adults.

Violet Evergarden is a young woman who was once a child soldier. Now she works at the CH Postal Company as an Auto Memory Doll. Her job is to write letters for people who cannot put their feelings into words. Through this work, she is slowly learning what human feelings mean.

In this film, Violet takes on an unusual job. She is sent to a strict boarding school for girls from rich and noble families. There, she must act as a tutor for Isabella York, the daughter of a powerful noble family. Isabella is preparing for her debut as a lady in high society. She must learn good manners, dancing and how to behave at royal events.

At first, Isabella is cold and rude to Violet. She seems unhappy with her life at the school and does not want to be there. As the two spend more time together, Violet learns that Isabella has a painful past and someone she had to leave behind.

The film is a gentle story about family, loneliness and the power of a single letter to connect people far apart.
